McHale & Co. Solicitors Blog

We are delighted that the Supreme Court has overturned the poor decision in our PPI case of Harrison v Blackhorse. The decision in the Harrison case had been used by large institutions to defeat reasonable claims by consumers. It was an affront to justice and we are glad to see the back of it. We took Harrison to the Supreme Court but the bank settled shortly before it was to be heard thus denying other consumers the benefit of a fair decision.

We then took the case of Conlon v Blackhorse to the Supreme Court and the same trick was played by the banks. Thankfully the case of Plevin v Paragon Personal Finance was heard and judgement was handed down today.

Today is a victory for justice and common sense. The Supreme Court has also renewed our faith in the judiciary. We will blog further when we've had the opportunity to digest the full and wider implications of this landmark decision.
