Sports Representation - Professionals are winning.

We started undertaking representation of footballers a couple of years ago under the terms of standard FA Representation agreements. This came on the back of having acted for many players on property transactions, traffic offences, injury claims arising out of bad tackles etc etc etc. What was clear was that as soon as anything complicated came up, the players agents were not able to handle it and we got involved. It occurred to us then that we could do all of the things that old fashioned agents could do and more.

At the same time it was becomming abundantly clear that clubs had a desire to deal with more professional advisers. From these ideas was McHale Sports was born.

I am glad to say that after a considerable struggle we are now winning the battle for the hearts and minds of players. They are intelligent enough to understand that clubs prefer to deal with professionals and that having a highly regulated professional acting for them protects their interests.

Over the journey I have met a number of like minded advisers and I note with interest that some traditional agencies are recruiting solicitors now.

The tide is turning in favour of professional representation and I am delighted that we are part of it. I predict that in the next 5 years, the majority of players will be represented by a lawyer. I genuinely believe that this will prove to be the best thing for players and also for clubs.
