TEAM STRUCTURE

 

Richard Whalley, Partner, Head of Department

 

Richard qualified as a solicitor in February 2008 and leads the department. He has extensive experience of commercial employment law, and is experienced in areas such as strategic advice, business restructure, large scale redundancy, forced Trade Union recognition, Employment and Employment Appeal Tribunal Litigation, drafting documents including settlement agreements and contracts and all areas of corporate support. He regularly advises clients on the terms and effect of settlement agreements. Richard trained at Keoghs LLP, before moving to Brabners Chaffe Street on qualification. Richard joined McHale & Co as a partner in February 2018 having spent five years working at a firm he co-founded in Manchester.

 

Jamie Lloyd, Legal Assistant

 

Jamie is responsible for the admin and credit control area of the department reporting directly to Richard Whalley. He also undertakes fee-earning work under supervision. Having come from a background in retail and administration, Jamie joined McHale & Co in January 2018 to put infrastructure in place ahead of the department’s launch in February 2018. Jamie manages several client relationships himself, and is often the first point of contact for new enquiries and all aspects of billing.

 

Luke Spilsbury, Client Relationship Manager

 

Luke is responsible for the business development operations within the department. He leads business development and marketing campaigns and assists the fee earners in the department with client, target, opponent and prospect due diligence.

 

Paul Fitton, Solicitor

 

Paul qualified in May 2013. He assists the head of department where employment matters cross over with litigation and the County or High Courts. Paul has been at McHale & Co since he was a trainee solicitor, and is a very well-regarded expert in litigation. Paul is experienced in areas such as injunctive relief, breach of contract claims, enforcement action, debt recovery and cases involving resisting or defending restrictive covenants. Paul regularly appears in Court for clients of the firm and is considered an extremely effective negotiator.
