A will is a legal document that states how you would like your assets to be distributed after you die. If you don’t have a will then your estate will be distributed in accordance with the rules of intestacy. If no beneficiaries can be found then your estate will belong to the Crown.

You may not think that you have enough money to leave in a will, but changes to pension legislation and increasing house prices can mean you have more to leave than you think. Some people use a will as a confirmation that they want particular assets, such as cars or jewellery, to belong to specific people.

Type of will and execution

Your will can be as simple or as complicated as you like. However, the execution (the way the will is signed and witnessed) is extremely important and can result in a will being invalid.

Wills for couples – Our will solicitors can discuss whether a matching, mirror or mutual will is most appropriate for your family circumstances.

Children with Additional Needs/Disabilities – We understand that a Will might be the last thing on your mind if life is a constant battle for support and services for your disabled child.  But what will that support, and those services look like when you’re no longer here?  We can help work out the best solution for your family’s needs.

Recently separated – We can advise on how to change your will, and put you in touch with our family department for further advice.

Deeds of variation – A Deed of Variation can also be referred to as an Instrument of Variation, a Family Arrangement, a Deed of Surrender, or a Deed of Assignment. It enables beneficiaries of a deceased’s estate to alter the distribution of that estate, or relinquish a bequest from an estate by changing the deceased’s will.

Mr L

We thank Grace, Marta Grzelak, Helen Green and Kasia for their help, support, commitment, and sometimes consolation – for empathy. We managed to overcome the language barrier and legal procedures. And everything was possible thanks to the wonderful Angels from the law firm.

Despite the fact that the administration has officially ended – you will all remain in our memories and hearts for a long time.
