The Lifesaving Role of Air Ambulance Services

Air Ambulances play a vital role in responding to life-threatening emergencies across the UK. For example, on 22nd February, an air ambulance landed on the M62 to deliver urgent critical care after a woman fell from a bridge over the motorway and sustained serious injuries. Incidents like this demonstrate why the Air Ambulances are so essential. These highly skilled medical teams are often called to remote, inaccessible or heavily congested locations where rapid treatment can mean the difference between life and death.

Our commitment to supporting Yorkshire Air Ambulance

The relationship between Fergus and Phil from our Personal Injury team and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance goes back many years. This has been built through fundraising and a clear appreciation of the work the charity carries out. Their relationship began when their stand was positioned next to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance at Oliver’s Mount, and it has since grown into a long‑standing partnership that continues to evolve.

Over the years, Fergus and Phil have taken on a range of fundraising activities to support the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

  • In 2012, Fergus attempted a sponsored 1,001‑mile cycling challenge in one week, raising important funds for the charity.
  • Fergus and Phil arranged for a full renovation of an old race bike and had it signed by stars of the motorcycling world. They raffled the bike and donated all proceeds to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
  • At last year’s Motorcycle Live, they invited Yorkshire Air Ambulance to join their stand, giving them a space to sell raffle tickets for another charity bike.

In conversation with Fergus he commented

I have seen the impact of the Air Ambulance first‑hand. A few of my clients have been saved by the Air Ambulance, including at least one who wouldn’t be here today without their help. That experience highlights why supporting the Air Ambulance is so important.

The wider McHale Group is committed to strengthening this relationship and exploring new ways to support the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity.
