Pharmaceutical Negligence
Being prescribed incorrect medication can cause serious side effects and in some instances result in death.

If you are issued with a prescription for medication by a hospital or a GP you should check that the medication you are given by the chemist matches the prescription you handed in and also that the medication prescribed is the what you had been told you were getting back your GP.

Instances involving medical negligence are not uncommon and dispensing procedures need to be more stringent to avoid incidents in the future. Examples of negligence include:

  • Being prescribed the wrong medication;
  • Being given different medication to the one your doctor told you that you would be getting;
  • Being prescribed medication that you are allergic to;
  • Being prescribed an incorrect dose of medication; and
  • Being prescribed repeat prescription without having been reviewed
